KNORR RECOMMENDED ROAST 2024 T’s & C’s
1. KNORR recommended roast is open to bona fide catering establishments in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland who serve to the public and their employees. Entrants must be aged 18 or over and residents of either ROI or NI, and not be the employees of the Promoter their families, agents or anyone professionally connected with the promotion. Employees may be able to enter but they must first obtain their employer’s consent in order to do so.
2. To enter, visit www.ufs.com/knorr-recommended-roast and complete the entry form. You must tell us the name of your catering establishment; provide a photograph of your establishment’s menu, or a link to the menu online[CC1] ; provide two photographs of the roast/carvery dinner (one front on and one side on of a fully plated roast dinner as served to the customer); and provide a description of the roast/carvery dinner.
3. The opening date for entries is 08:00 IST on 01/09/2023 and the closing date for receipt of entries is 23:59 IST on 31/03/2024. The activity is limited to one entry per establishment.
4. No applications from agents, third-parties, organised groups or applications automatically generated by a computer will be accepted. Any incomplete or corrupted entries will not be accepted. Entries will only be accepted if they comply with all entry instructions herein.
5. Each entry:
- must be suitable for display and publication online and should not be obscene or indecent (including but not limited to nudity, pornography or profanity), it must not contain defamatory statements or words or symbols that are offensive either generally or to individuals of a certain race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or socioeconomic group. Entries must not include threats to any person, place, business or group, must not invade privacy or other rights of any person, firm or entity, and must not in any other way violate applicable laws and regulations or network standards.
- must not contain or reference any third-party trademarks or logos unless such inclusion is merely incidental and is not unduly prominent and as long as it is included with due cause and in such a way that it does not take unfair advantage of any third-party trademarks.
- must be the entrant’s own work and must not contain any copyright protected works (other than as owned by the entrant).
6. If any group of people elects to collaborate on a submission, they are required to designate one person as the agent of the group to enter, to agree to these terms and conditions, and accept the plaque (if awarded) on behalf of the group.
7. If you submit an entry that includes material the rights of which are owned by a third party, including intellectual property rights such as copyright and trademarks, you will be responsible for any legal action that party may take against you.
8. Entrants shall indemnify and hold the Promoter and their respective affiliates, directors, agents, or other partners ("the Indemnitees") harmless from any claims, actions, proceedings, costs (including reasonable legal fees) and expenses brought or asserted by a third-party against any of the Indemnitees arising as a result of the Promoter's use of the entrant's submission including but not limited to any breach of third-party intellectual property rights.
9. By participating in this promotion, you agree to release, discharge and hold us harmless from any and all injuries, liability, losses and damages of any kind resulting from your participation in this promotion (save that nothing shall limit our liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence).
10. By submitting your entry, you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sub-licensable and transferable licence to use, reproduce, distribute, and make derivative works of your entry in any media and through any media channel. No responsibility is accepted for entries lost, damaged or delayed as a result of any network, computer hardware or software failure of any kind.
11. Several outlets will be awarded a Knorr Recommended Roast plaque if they meet the standard set out by Knorr. 1) Winner announced online 2) Local and national PR support, to include drafting a press release and sending to local, national and trade publications for inclusion in editorial features, as well as liaising with the media to answer questions and queries for a period of one month after the winner’s announcement has been made. Editorial coverage is at the sole discretion of the publication and by no means guaranteed as part of the PR support 3) One plaque to outlets that meet the standard.
12. All entries received will be reviewed by our expert panel. The panel will decide if the entry qualifies for mystery dining: based on the following criteria: Venues entering the Knorr Recommended Roast programme must first meet the qualifying standards set-out in the initial assessment, which comprises uploading a photo of their roast offering and answering 2/3 simple questions. For the photo, there are strict criteria to ensure the venue can be assessed accurately.
- The photograph must be of an actual Roast/Carvery offering served in the venue entering.
- The photo must be of the full plate of food, including meat, vegetables, gravy and any additional sides.
- Venues can submit up to 3 photos but they must be of the same dish – from above, side, etc.
- Photoshopping or use of filters is prohibited.
- Photos can be used by UFS/ Knorr for marketing purposes relating to the Knorr Recommended Roast programme.
13. Entrants’ submissions to the programme will be assessed by 31st March 2024 and all decisions are final.
14. Along with submitting photo(s), venues will be asked to answer 2/3 questions. Example:
- What makes your venue’s roast special?
- What influences your venue’s menu in relation to Roast options?
- Do you use local suppliers for the ingredients for your Roast offering?
- If we asked your customers ‘Why do you choose to eat Roast at this venue?’, what would be their response?
- If photos were not allowed, how would you describe your Roast offering in 150* words or less?
15. In order for a venue to be recognised as a “Knorr Recommended Roast” venue, they will be required to meet an agreed standard. This standard is based on the venue attaining a minimum level (75%) against agreed criteria. It’s important that this standard and how it is assessed is simple, clear and transparent.

17. If your entry is shortlisted, you will be visited by our Mystery Diner team for an assessment of your roast. One entry per establishment. A plaque will be awarded to any outlet that meets the Knorr Recommended Roast standard. Plaques are non transferrable / exchangeable.
18. Up to 3 photographs of the establishment’s roast / carvery dish (fully plated) and questions answered as indicated on the entry form. The shortlisted entries will be mystery dined and awarded a plaque (if they qualify) within 6 weeks of entering. The Mystery Diner team are an expert panel who will judge their experience on the following judging criteria: overall taste, taste of meat, vegetables, gravy and potatoes, food presentation, hygiene, value for money, staff (customer service). The best performers (those who meet the standard set by Knorr) in the discretionary opinion of our Mystery Diner team will be awarded a Plaque to display outside their venue.
19. In the event of any dispute, the decision of the Promoter is final. In the event of any unforeseen circumstances, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize for an alternative of equal or greater value. No correspondence will be entered into.
20. Qualifying outlets will be notified by email or telephone within 6 weeks of entering. The plaques will be delivered by UFS business development managers.
21. Qualifying outlets details (name and county) may be made available on request to those writing to OMNE Agency, 6 Doolittle Yard, Froghall Road, Ampthill, MK45 2NW within ten weeks after the closing date, enclosing a stamped SAE.
22. Qualifying outlets entries may be filmed, photographed, and interviewed by the Promoter or on our behalf following the winners’ announcement. The winners grant us a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sub-licensable and transferable licence to use, reproduce, distribute and make derivative works of such footage, photographs, and testimonials in any media and through any media channel.
23. Qualifying outlets may be required to participate in publicity arising from this promotion.
24. By entering the promotion, all entrants will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by the rules and consent to the transfer of their personal data to the Data Controller for the purposes of the administration of this promotion and any other purposes to which the entrant has consented. The personal data will be processed in accordance with the Data Controller’s Privacy Policy, which is available at http://www.unileverprivacypolicy.com/en_gb/policy.aspx. All entry instructions form part of the rules.
25. As concerns UK residents, these terms and conditions and any issues or disputes which may arise out of or in connection with these terms and conditions (whether such disputes or issues are contractual or non-contractual in nature, such as claims in tort, for breach of statute or regulation or otherwise) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law. Entrants hereby irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts to settle any such dispute or issues.
