MEET THE WINNERS: INTRODUCING SILKEN THOMAS, WINNERS OF KNORR® PROFESSIONAL’S GREAT IRISH ROAST COMPETITION 2021
The title of Ireland’s Great Roast 2021 competition in association with Knorr® Professional has been announced and this year's winner is the Silken Thomas pub in Kildare.
The Silken Thomas is no stranger to winning and has previously won the title of Great Carvery of the Year – Pub in 2018, also carried out in association with Knorr® Professional.
We caught up with Owner, Brian Flannagan to discuss what makes the Silken Thomas' roast so great!
1. Tell us about your pub; what’s your story and what makes it different?
The team at Silken Thomas works hard every day to produce the best quality food for our customers. Over the past 20 years, we have continued to focus on ensuring we use the freshest and best quality ingredients possible.
Fresh produce cooked correctly will never disappoint!
2. Tell us about your winning roast
Our best-seller is a slow-roasted top-rib of beef, served on a bed of creamy mashed potatoes with duck fat roast potatoes, meat jus gravy, horseradish cream, and a side of vegetables - steamed carrots, baked courgette, and steamed cauliflower topped with a cheese sauce.
2. What makes your roast so special?
We serve over 1,250 roast dinners each week and we make sure each one is as good as the last.
We have a very loyal customer base in Kildare so consistency is important. But we also take great pride in the hospitality and every customer will receive a warm welcome from the team.
