Irish Salt Dependency

The Salt intake of Ireland is an issue which has been discussed at length in recent times. It can not be disputed that changes need to be made in order to ensure Ireland becomes a healthier nation and reducing salt intake is one of the first steps to ensure this occurs.

Research suggests Irish people's intake of salt is 10g over the recommended dosage. This can cause serious health issues including high blood pressure and heart disease.

The Irish consumer is increasingly becoming Health Conscious and salt intake is the most topical point of contention. The Food Safety Authority (FSA)'s current 'Already Salted Campaign' is one which has been run nationwide in all national newspapers, billboards and television advertisements.
