Knorr Student Chef of the Year Competition 2009

The Knorr Student Chef of the Year competition, now in its 12th year, has become an established and anticipated event on the Irish Culinary calendar.

This year the event will be held on Wednesday 18th February in the brand new catering facilities at the Waterford Institute of Technology.

It is an ideal opportunity for chefs of the future to showcase their talent, love of food, creativity and innovation in front of leading food professionals, including our own Executive Chef, Willie Somers. Previous winners have gone on to enjoy exciting careers in Ireland’s food industry and the opportunity is there for students to follow in their footsteps.

The requirement for entry is that recipes are created for both a starter and main course, using a minimum of 2 Knorr catering products. Each entry will be evaluated on creativity, practicality and effective use of the Knorr products, as well as workmanship, composition and presentation. Closing dates for applications is Friday 23rd January ‘09.

This year's prize is a trip to America to visit the world-famous International Boston Seafood Expo, which has up to 18,000 of the worlds seafood buyers and sellers attending.

The trip will also coincide with Boston’s St Patrick’s Day celebrations.
