Alan Mc Ardle is the 2007 Knorr Student Chef of the Year. Alan, a second year student at the time at Institute of Technology Tallaght, was awarded the top prize at the final held in Cork Institute of Technology on Wednesday 7th February 2007.
Alan's winning menu, cited by the judges as effectively demonstrating a range of disciplines, featured:

Assiette of Rabbit with Celeriac Puree and Black Truffle Sauce
Commenting on the winning menu, Unilever Foodsolutions’ Executive Chef Willie Somers said “The judges all agreed that Alan’s menu was highly original and interesting, yet absolutely workable, and scored highly across all our judging criteria; creativity, workmanship, composition and preparation”.
Other winners in 2007 included Elaine Salter of Cork Institute of Technology who was awarded second prize, Philip Ryan of Waterford Institute of Technology who claimed third and John Dunne of Failte Ireland who was awarded the Overall Hygiene Award.
